Our Vision
Get water and weather data working for difficult climate challenges.

Our Story
Making complex environmental data useful
CatchmentAI was founded by three Imperial College London alumni with backgrounds in hydrology, climate science, geology, data engineering and AI.
We started the company because we kept seeing the same problem. There is more environmental data available than ever before, from forecasts and sensors to satellite imagery and open monitoring networks, but much of it is still difficult to access, interpret and use in real decisions.
We were interested in the gap between the science and the people who need to act on it.
We began by looking at farming, where weather and water affect operations every day. After months of speaking with farmers, one issue kept coming up. Standard forecasts often failed to communicate the risks that mattered most.
That led us to build Probcast, our first product.
We found that the problem was not always the forecast science. In many cases, the underlying weather models were detecting the danger. The issue was that this signal was often lost when many possible outcomes were averaged into one “best guess.”
For farmers, that matters. A missed rainfall risk can mean spray wash-off, delayed fieldwork, lost inputs and higher costs.
Probcast was built to show the full range of possible weather outcomes, helping farms understand not just what is most likely, but what could happen and how much risk there is.
Since then, we have applied the same approach to wider weather, water and environmental data projects, from smart abstraction tools and water to energy dashboards and bespoke decision-support systems.
Across everything we do, the aim is the same. Understand the real problem, work closely with users, and turn complex environmental data into practical tools that help people make better decisions.
